You’ve probably heard it before from anyone who’s gotten married: your wedding day will fly by. With so much build up – often a year or more of planning – the day finally arrives, and before you know it, you’re begging the DJ for just one more song at the end of the night!
We’ve got some great tips for you that will help make sure that you’re able to take it all in and truly enjoy your day. Here we go!
1 – Hire a Wedding Planner
Ok, ok, obviously this is one that we feel strongly about. But for a good reason! Having a wedding planner on your wedding day will make a HUGE difference when it comes to being able to live in the moment and enjoy your day. You’ll be able to relax, knowing that any issues that come up will be dealt with – and you probably won’t even know about them until after the fact. Your wedding planner can also ensure that your timeline is developed in a way that gives you little breaks throughout the day to take a breath – whether it’s a few minutes after the ceremony to be alone with your new husband/wife, or an extra 15 minutes before the reception so you can touch up your makeup and hair. Your wedding planner’s got your back, and there’s no better feeling than that!
2 – Go easy on the booze.
This one can be a challenge – but hold off on drinking until the party gets started later in the evening. Have a mimosa with your breakfast, sure! But doing shots right after your ceremony is asking for trouble. We’ve seen it before – couples that partake a little too much, too early, and then, well… let’s just say their memories are foggy after the fact.
3 – Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Here’s a truth bomb for you: something WILL go wrong at your wedding. There are so many moving parts, so many details, it’s almost impossible to expect that everything will go flawlessly according to plan. The best advice we can give you is to go with the flow. The most important piece is that you GET MARRIED – the rest is just icing on the proverbial wedding cake. And guess what? Some of the BEST moments happen because of unpredictable mishaps. And let’s be honest… does it really matter that your MC’s forgot to mention that the late night lunch will be at 10:30? Probably not – your guests will figure it out pretty quickly. Instead of focusing on the little things, focus on the important ones – your guests, and the love of your life.
