Hey there!  Welcome to the Cocktails & Confetti Podcast site.  We are the co-owners of Smitten & Co., a wedding planning + design company based in Calgary, Alberta.  We created this podcast because let's face it - wedding planning isn't all pretty flowers and champagne towers. There's a LOT of work that goes into it (and approximately 36, 257 details) and that's where we come in: this podcast is all about sharing our tried-and-true tips, tricks, and advice when it comes to planning fabulous weddings.  We'll be interviewing other wedding professionals, sharing our wedding planning secrets, and more!  Tune in weekly for new episodes - and don't forget to pour yourself a cocktail while you enjoy the show! xoxo

SWEET TEA SANGRIA 

CURRENT COCKTAIL

6 Cups sweet tea (iced tea works just great!)
1 bottle of white wine
2 cups raspberries
2 cups sliced peaches
Fresh mint for garnishing

Mix tea and wine together in a large pitcher
Add fruit and chill for at least 2-3 hours
Garnish with mint; serve, and enjoy!

TIPS FOR CHOOSING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Watermelon margartia slushies 

CURRENT COCKTAIL

6 cups chopped watermelon
1/2 cup frozen limeade concentrate
3 ounces silver tequila
3 ounces orange liqueur
Juice of 1 lime

Freeze chopped watermelon for 2 hours. Chill 4 cocktail glasses. Blend frozen watermelon with limeade, tequila, and orange liqueur, and the juice of 1 lime.
Garnish with lime; serve, and enjoy!

strawberry mojito

CURRENT COCKTAIL

1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
12 mint leaves
1/8 cup simple syrup
Juice from 1/2 lime
4 ounces light rum
Club soda
Garnish: Strawberries, lime, and/or mint sprig

In a cocktail shaker, muddle strawberries, mint leaves, simple syrup and lime juice with a muddler (use a wooden spoon if you don't have a muddler)
Pour in two glasses over ice (equal amounts). Add 2 oz. of rum to each glass and top with club soda. Garnish and enjoy!

BLUEBERRY MINT JULEP

CURRENT COCKTAIL

2 1/2 oz bourbon
1 oz mint simple syrup (1/3 sugar, 1/3 water, 1 bunch mint leaves)
1 oz mint blueberry puree (2/3 cup fresh blueberries, 2 tbs mint simple syrup)
Crushed ice
Garnish: mint sprig

Combine bourbon, mint simple syrup and mint blueberry puree together and shake or stir well. Pour over ice (crushed if you prefer) and service with extra mint leaves. 

To make mint simple syrup: Combine sugar, mint and water together in a small saucepan and heat over high heat until boiling. Reduce heat to low and cook for another minute or so, then set aside to cool completely.  Remove mint before using.

Floral coconut gin crush

CURRENT COCKTAIL

2 oz gin (use something floral like Hendricks)
1 oz cream of coconut
3/4 oz fresh squeezed/strained lime
1/4 tsp orange blossom water

Combine all in a cocktail shaker with three ice cubes and shake for 5 seconds. Pour over crushed ice, add additional crushed ice, and garnish with flowers.

Rob offers some great advice on working with a caterer, including questions to ask and how much of your budget you should be setting aside for food and beverages.  He also shares some of his favorite - and least favorite - food trends, and offers expert advise on working with a chef.  Join us for lots of laughs, excellent advice, and a LOT of talk about hot dogs. Yep, hot dogs!

OCEAN BREEZE

CURRENT COCKTAIL

3 oz Vodka
2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz Blue Curacau
Blueberries to garnish

In a high-ball glass, add vodka, lemon juice, and blue Caracau. Mix, add ice and blueberries to garnish. 

Close your eyes, and pretend you're on the beach!
